This little short story is part of “M.E.’s Psychic” series by M.E. 8-) of course. This is just a small segment of the full planned story. There are small errors in relation to the game play since I didn’t want to follow the full rules, so ignore them, it’s the idea of the story that counts. ;)

All of the cards sent straight to the graveyard. This could not be happening. A player like him could never have made such a great gamble. If only I know he placed that card face down on purpose and managed to pass it off a trap card. And now my life points are more vulnerable than before.
“Now I set this card in face-down defense mode. And I’ll set this card here, and this one too. Oh, and this one also. One more face down magic card, or is it a trap? Only I know, and you have no idea what’s in store for you.” He said. “And finally I play the magic card Monster Reborn and take control of your Buster Blader. There, now it’s your move.”
He’s got my favorite card in his possession but why hasn’t he attacked? The single face down monster has got to be an effect card, otherwise he’d have played that card in attack mode. Now whatever his combination of traps and magic cards he has, I’m sure he’ll reveal in his next turn.
I got to draw a good card now and only the Heart of the Cards will help me through. Heart of the Cards, guide me. Almost got it, and the card I picked is? Yes, perfect! Just what I needed to do the only move that will turn this match around in my favor.
“Come on, make your pathetic move now!”
“You seem to strangely have the game in your favor, where as you haven’t been able to beat anyone in you whole life. And now I shall make sure it stays that way.”
Looking at my hand to make sure I get this right. Now to place the card I drew.
“Now see your foolishness! I play the magic card, Dark Hole! And just like you, I ruin your little plan!”
“Nooo! You can’t!” showing a clear sign of panic.
“Oh yes I can, for I didn’t have one Dark Hole in my deck like usual, I had two. And now all you’re cards go straight to the graveyard.” The area was cleared and I was ready to make my next combo. “Let’s see, two magic cards face down, and I play this second magic card, Card destruction! I have three cards and you have none. All I have to do is sacrifice my Suijin, Dark Designator and Bottomless Shifting Sand and now I have a brand new hand of three that will bring your life points down.” Quickly I took a look at my new hand and made a quick strategy. Now for the next step. “For my third and forth trick, I reveal my two face down magic cards and they both are Monster Reborn! And I bring back my Suijin, and my Buster Blader!”
“Oh no! This can’t be happening!” with an expression of fear he nearly looked like he could have been in shock. “There’s no way I’ll be able to stand up to that! At least my life points won’t completely be gone.”
“Wrong, your life point’s will reach zero.”
“What! That’s impossible with just those two cards, I have a good eight thousand life points, there’s no way those two can alone bring down my life points!”
I grinned a bit with a nice smile, “You forget I have three cards in my hand, of which the first I play is the trap card Ultimate Offering! Now I summon La Jinn The Mystical Genie Of The Lamp, and thanks to Ultimate offering and a minus five hundred in my life points I can summon Harpie’s Brother.”
“No! There’s no way you can beat me!”
“And now with no cards in your hand or your side of the field, I have nothing more to do than to attack and bring this game to an end. Now all together, attack his life points directly!”
And with that, Derik’s life points dropped from eight thousand to zero in just a single turn.
“No! there’s no way you could have beaten my, I’m destined to beat you, you can’t have been that great!”
“It’s over, you’ve lost again. But it seems strange to me that you came so close to actually beating me, and you showed great skill that you never had. I don’t know how, but you want to be great that badly, I suggest that you finally start practicing with the others.”
With that I picked my deck and started to make my way through the crowd. This battle was too rough. It seems impossible that Derik had gained such, power, experience, what to call it is odd to me. He probably got caught up with that strange force I felt earlier. I have to stop that force before more people end up like him, or worse they could become dangerous to others. I can still hear his denial in the ring. What ever I have to do, it has to be now. Time to find the rest of the gang.

To be continued... 8-) ;)

This story is partially true, and it’s done by M.E. 8-)

Dark Sri Lankan Duels
Episode 01 : Dark Desires

“Yello!”
“Hi, It’s me.” I said in my usual voice of excitement.
“Well Yello, Yello.” Said Shalinda instead of saying ‘Hello’.
“Did you pick up your PlayStation?”
“Huh? No. You’re still in Colombo?”
“Ahh No. I’m back home in Kandy. Didn’t my sister drop it off?”
“What, right now?” changing his tone to a shrieky one.
“NO! Can’t you see it’s late already? She isn’t going to come now, but I’ll tell her to drop it off tomorrow.”
“OK. You didn’t take the cables, right?”
“Ahh, I think I left them in the bag.”
“I hope so, my father will kill me.”
“Well it’s safe. I’d have returned it sooner but college won’t start for another day, so I stayed on.”
“Your mom told you that I came over, right?”
“Yes, she did. I was to call you after I came back but I continued to play Yu-Gi-Oh and forgot to call.” And then with excitement I said, “And guess what, I got to the third Seto.”
In a puzzled tone, “Third Seto?”
“Yeah, right after I beat Heishin. And that was an easy round.”
“WHAT? You beat Heshin?”
“Yes. And it’s a good thing I stayed on. I beat Heshin with a Meteor B. Dragon that I got from the low Meadow Mage. And I got Curse of Dragon and Gaia the Fierce Knight too.”
Now it sounded like Shalinda was in shock, “Ahh, you got all that? Wow.”
“But that was not enough to defeat Seto. He crushed me in three turns. And he played three Blue-eyes Ultimate Dragons. I had no card in my deck to save my life points, even if I’d used all the Raigikies, four-thousand five hundred in attack would just wipe out my life points in two hits.”
“And you didn’t get any Red Eyes to beat him with?”
“WHAT are you, nuts? Don’t you know that the Red-eyes is no match. And I’d have to play the game another two days just to get that.”
“Oh well. Hey, how much does a Yu-Gi-Oh starter deck cost?”
“About as low as 9 dollars to as high as 20 dollars.”
“And an advance version?”
“There’s no advance version, but there are Structure Decks. They’re like the actual decks that belong to the characters.”
“Well, could you get me one if I give you the money?”
“Huh? The next time I travel will be to the university.”
“No, I mean could you get it from the Internet.”
“No way. I got that PlayStation CD through someone, but that’s over there. I don’t buy things online, nor does my grandma. Besides, I don’t have a credit card and hackers can easily get that kind of info easily. So if you got someone coming from the states, ask them.”
“Oh well, never mind then. Guess what, I got some Yu-Gi-Oh cards from school.”
This started to grab my attention, “From school? How… Oh yes, just like the first card I ever saw, and all of it must be in Japanese.”
“Actually, no. They’re all in English. I traded them for three of my Pokémon cards, Blaziken, Combusken and Torchic. I got fifteen, ten today, and he’ll give me the other five tomorrow.”
This telephone conversation was starting to go somewhere that even my deepest thoughts started to become active, “So they kid who traded with you plays Yu-Gi-Oh?”
“No he just didn’t want them, so I traded for the cards.”
“Hmmph! That wasn’t a good trade, you could have got them for free.”
“Huh? That wouldn’t be nice.” He said in a seemingly blameless tone.
“Oh come now, don’t play that innocent game with me. You, who would seek revenge, on those who stole your cards, by defeating them in a devastating game of Pokémon, then finding ways to torture them. Oh sure, that would be nice.”
“But that’s no use, he becomes stronger with the cards he gets. He even has an EX card that’s a hundred and fifty HP. That’s super rare and it’s not on the list.”
“Probably a fake.”
“No, it’s real.”
“Yeah, Yeah, but you still could have got the Yu-Gi-Oh cards for free. How do you think I got my cards? It’s not everyday someone gives you a Blue-eyes.”
“Yeah.”
“So next time try to get them for free. Trading for Yu-Gi-Oh on this island is not worth it yet. Think a little! I’m the best and only pro duelist on the island with some of the strongest cards.” At this moment my mind started thinking more, as if my unconscious part had a mind of its own, “So far there are no other known duelists on the island other than the few I teach. And it’s all because Yu-Gi-Oh isn’t sold or known of at all. So right now, that kid feels he’s ripped you off for your rare cards, simply because Yu-Gi-Oh trading cards are worthless to him and everyone else on the island.”
“Hmm, I guess so. But I got some first edition cards at least. Anyway let me tell you about the cards I got. I got some cards from Legacy of Darkness”
This was interesting but one part of my mind wasn’t focused on what Shalinda said…

…the young fool, thinking that Yu-Gi-Oh cards are worthless. He knows not of what they are or how powerful they can be. The cards he has do not deserve a master as him, the cards deserve a master who can bring forth the full potential of all the cards. He does not deserve to own such cards.
But then, if there is one there should be more like him how own the cards…

…then my attention was grabbed by one of the trap cards Shalinda mentioned.
“…if heads, then cards in the graveyard are sent out of play. If tails, ten cards from the deck are sent to the graveyard. What does that mean?”
“Oh my, it’s the second card that can destroy my signature move.”
“It can? But what does the trap do?”
“Well, let’s say you get heads, then all my cards in the graveyard are sent out of play, but if you get tails then ten cards from the top of your deck are sent to the graveyard.”
“Oh. So is it worth having a card like that?”
“For you and everyone else, I’d like to say no since that card can be my downfall.”
“Yeah, I know.”
Then a thought came to my mind, “Hey, do all the other kids at school have Yu-Gi-Oh cards?”
“I don’t know yet.”
“Well, go around the school and ask. Try to find as many people who have Yu-Gi-Oh cards. If there’s one, there must be a few more.” My deep thoughts were becoming active again.
“There must be. A lot of them get cards from their relatives in the States but they don’t know how to use them.”
“Then you have a better chance of getting them. Remember not to trade for them yet. Trade Yu-Gi-Oh cards for Yu-Gi-Oh cards and only when it’s popular. No one cares for the game yet.”
Then a part of me was again focused elsewhere…

…there maybe more of them. And any rare cards amongst them should be mine, and all strong cards should belong to me or be destroyed. I’m sure of it now. There must more of them out there. Yu-Gi-Oh is like a stranger from a foreign land that no one wants to know unless it is well known by those around. Many of those kids receive a lot of Yu-Gi-Oh cards as gifts, and many have rare cards with no idea of how to use them. With only the mastered ability to play the simple Pokémon trading card game, they have a way to strategize for a game. But they have never dueled before and they do not know how to use their cards. Their only weakness.
Yes. They have no skill and they would fall if they battled me. That is the way, I’ll duel for their cards and seek out every last card on the island. No matter how young or old they are, I want their cards, so that I shall be the supreme duelist on this island. Only those I teach shall be spared, but everyone else shall FALL before ME, for it is DESTINY for ME to be the MOST POWERFUL DUELIST on Sri Lankan soil, MWRHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA…”

…from which a strange force started to emerge, slowly.
“Hey, I got an idea. What if I duel your friends for their cards, and I’ll give some of them to you and Alex, for your own decks.”

Dark Sri Lankan Duels
Episode 02 : Luck before the Win

Just got off the phone with Kashan, one of the most craziest people I know. He just told me an idea he had that he already told Shalinda. And as always, any idea of his is crazy. He wants to battle Shalinda’s friends from school in Yu-Gi-Oh, so that he can win their cards. And what’s cool about it is that he’ll give some of those cards to Shalinda and me.
This is great, soon I’ll be able to make my own deck.
Then I started to go into flashback. I started to remember the recent tournament I was in…

…Only a few minuets to go before we start. Game one, just Shalinda and me, one on one for 3 rounds. Shalinda is better at this game than I am, so I’ll probably be beaten up by him in the worst kind of way. All I got to do is win at least one round to score a point, or else I look like a looser.
“OK, ready, the timer is set for twenty minuets per round,” said Kashan to both me and Shalinda, “so just do as much damage to the life points as possible to win.”
He coached me and Shalinda to do our best, but he hasn’t taught us everything, like secrets to the game.
“Let’s go, you go first.” Said Shalinda.
In my hand, there were some of the strong cards I put into the deck, but no Red-eyes yet. At least I have my Gaia the Fierce Knight that I’ll save for an emergency.
“Uh, ah, ha. I’ll put this trap here, and this magic here, and one monster in attack. End phase.”
Oh goody, Shalinda couldn’t possibly beat my nice defense. I hope he takes my bluff about the magic and trap cards I put. The only thing I got to fear is Shalinda’s cards. He’s got the Blue-eyes White Dragon and some card that Pegasus has that I think has some devastating effect. Hopefully he doesn’t have them in his hand, yet.
Then Shalinda made his move “I play Sonic Bird in defense mode and activate it’s effect.”
Effect? Oh no, his using a monster with an effect. “What does that do?”
“I get to search my deck for a ritual magic card.”
I looked at Kashan, “Hey he’s going through his deck. Can he do that?”
“Oh yes he can. Sonic Bird helps him get the one card to help him summon the mighty Relinquished.”
“What’s that?”
He calmly replied, “Wait and see what it can do.”
Shalinda searched trough, and found the ritual magic card. I don’t know what it can do, but I’m sure that’s Shalinda’s edge.
“OK, I…” Shalinda started off just as he was interrupted by Kashan.
“No, wait! Your ritual for Relinquished only works if you have Relinquished in your hand. Do you?”
“Ah, No.” Clearly this was Shalinda’s first time to try and use a ritual magic card, so he didn’t know how to use it.
“Then wait till you get that card to your hand. Or else the magic card will be negated.”
Then Shalinda placed a couple of magic or traps for me, and the duel went on. That’s when it started to get worse. Turn by turn it went on, and my defense rose up, and so did all my magic and trap cards. Pretty soon it was time for me to attack until Shalinda suddenly attacked with his army of monster cards. Every move and turn happened so fast that I lost track of what he and I were doing.
Finally I got a strong card to beat his monsters, and made my attack. But it was a trap, Shalinda had placed a monster card with an effect on the field. The card Princess of Tsurugi.
“What does that do?”
Shalinda with a smile on his face replied, “This cards effect is activated when flipped, so now it’s effect takes place. And thanks to your magic and trap cards, you get five hundred points of damage for each magic and trap card you have on the field. That’s two thousand, five hundred. Mwhahaha…”
“WHAT! Oh NO!” My life points would be devastated. That brings my life points way down. And all Shalinda lost was a thousand, while I’ve lost over five thousand. I got to retaliate with all my cards now. And I have the perfect move.
“It’s not over, I have a way to bust you up.”
“Oh yeah?” Shalinda said.
“Now I…”
Suddenly the clock alarm went, with its beeps.
“Times up!”
“WHAT! No, I was going to, uh. I could have, ah.” I couldn’t say anything. He won that first round. It’s so unfair, I just needed another minuet.
“OK guys, you got a moment to prepare your decks.”
I started to look through my deck, just to find a card to call a lucky card. Maybe I’ll get it in the next game. Just then Kashan pulled one of the cards I had in my hand at that moment.
“Alex, Remove this card. The Wicked Worm Beast is just a waste in the deck and will only help hurt you life points.”
“But have you seen the effect? After I attack with it, I can get it back to my hand safely.”
“Yeah, at which time you won’t have any monsters on the field too.”
Huh? How could I be so stupid? I should have thought of it first before choosing it.
“Besides, you wouldn’t know how to get rid of it if you ever drew it into your hand.” Said Kashan.
Oh well, just got to find lucky card. And I think I just found one, the monster Skull Knight. He’ll be great if I can get him, because he’s strong as hell.
“All right, I’m ready. You go first this time”
Shalinda seemed ready too, “This is going to be another easy round.”
And in the next couple of turns, he was right. He managed to take my monster out and inflict damage of a thousand two hundred. Slowly his monsters started to build up, and mine just disappeared.
“I draw.” What luck, I got the Dark Hole magic card that can help me destroy all his monsters. But if I use it, I won’t have a chance at destroy his Blue-eyes or other strong monsters. His strongest monster is at thousand two hundred and I got one that’s more than his. I won’t use my Dark Hole now, “I set this card face down and I summon this monster in attack mode.”
“Now get ready for this!” Shalinda said.
The look he had on his face meant he had a trick up his sleeve. It must be one of his strong cards. Maybe he’s got the fusion for his Thousand Dragon or Flame Swordsman. Or he must have got that monster with an attack of thousand eight hundred. Or maybe worse, he has his Blue-eyes, then I’m doomed. I know what most of his cards are because the cards in Shalinda’s, Kashan’s and my decks all belong to Kashan, and we split up all the cards. Each of us took turns to pick the strongest cards from the pile. Kashan and I both managed to take some of the best magic and trap cards that Shalinda didn’t go after. He concentrated on the best monsters to support him. Kashan took some of the strangest cards, one’s I’ve never used, and only a very few monsters with level five and above.
“I tribute these two to summon the Blue-eyes White Dragon in attack mode.”
Eek! I’m dead. I’m so busted! This is the scariest moment in this game for me. In no time he got rid of my monsters and then attacked my life points with the Blue-eyes, which had an equip magic card too. And just like that I had lost a total of four thousand eight hundred life points. With him, none. Then things started to change. To my luck I got a good card to turn the game around. I think I can at least scrath his life points a little.
“I activate the face down magic card I put earlier. It’s Dark Hole”
With a shock on his face, “No, not my Blue-eyes.”
“I summon A Man with Wdjat and activate its effect.”
“Ah, Alex,” Kashan started to speak, “That effect doesn’t work until your standby phrase.”
“Standby phrase? What’s a standby phrase?”
“That’s the phrase before you start placing cards on the field.”
“Whew, I thought I was dead.” Said Shalinda.
“That effect only reveals facedown cards.”
“Oh. Then I’ll just attack with him.” Good thing Kashan explained the effect to me, I could have been in trouble there.
“I activate this Trap card.”
“What? Why now?”
“It’s Ordeal of a Traveler. And it’s got an icon for, er, something.”
“That’s a continuous trap card.” said Kashan.
“Oh no, I’m doomed!” Like I didn’t have enough to worry about, he brings out a trap that works forever.
“Whenever you attack, you choose a card from my hand and call it’s type. If it’s wrong then your monster comes back to your hand.”
Looks like Shalinda has the upper hand, “For every monster?”
“I don’t know? Is it for every monster?”
Kashan scratched his head a bit and then shrugged, “I’ve never used the card, nor have I ever seen it in action. But I guess it’s for every monster since it says to return the attacking monster.”
Oh well, here goes, “OK, hold out your hand,” I reached for the card in the middle, “Magic?”
“Ah ha! Wrong.” The card was the monster Relinquished.

(*continued from previous post- DSLD:E2:Luck before the Win)

Busted. I’m busted for the whole game. The next turn he defended so it meant he didn’t have a good card to attack with. Once again I brought out my Man with Wdjat and tried to attack again.
“Monster,” I said picking the card to Shalinda’s left.
“Ah, you just got lucky.”
It must be luck, pulling out his Relinquished again and calling Monster. And that helped me to attack his monster.
In the next turn, I had the chance to see what cards he placed face down thanks to my Man with Wdjat. I had to again choose a card from his hand so that I could attack. Twice I chose for the two monsters I had, and at both times I picked monster and the card I pulled out was Relinquished.
In his turn, I had a sure sign of luck. I successfully activated my trap card Enchanted Javelin and brought up my life points and only lost my Man with Wdjat and a hundred life points. And then my turn came and time was almost up.
“I summon Skull Red Bird and I play the Magic card Fissure”
“Oh no.” Shalinda said and for once I could see the fear in his eyes.
Now I had the perfect chance to get at his life points with maximum damage by using both Skull Red Bird and Gazelle the King of Mythical Beasts. And like before I had to go through the process of picking a card from Shalinda’s hand and guessing the type.
“What! Again Relinquished? You’re very lucky.”
“I think Relinquished is Destined for Alex.” Said Kashan “Perhaps you should give it to Alex later.”
“I don’t know how to use it, but if Shalinda picked it for his deck then it must be strong.”
And with that, I attacked his life points and brought his life points down. And just as I was to end my turn, the clock alarm went off.
“Time’s up!”
Whew, that round’s over and am I glad. “Wow. Who won?”
“Let’s see, You lost three thousand two hundred.” Said Kashan
“OK, I’ve lost this game.”
“And what about me?” asked Shalinda.
“Wait, Shalinda lost seven thousand nine hundred life points”
“What? I won this round? Yeah, who’s the tough guy now, eh Shali-boy?”
Shalinda gave a small grin, “It’s not over yet, I can still win the third round and win the game.”
I completely forgot about the third round. Ah, but what’s to worry, I won the round and brought Shalinda’s life points to a hundred. Guess that I’m lucky and that Shalinda is busted…

…and that’s basically it. I won the third round and bagged me three points from that game. But there was my round against the scary guy Kashan himself. Before our round he beat Shalinda by bringing his life points to one thousand and two thousand while he barley got scratched with six thousand and seven thousand two hundred. When I faced him I couldn’t touch his life points. And just like with Shalinda, he used his signature move on me…

“…I play the Magic card DARK DESIGNATOR! And I designate your Red-eyes Black Dragon!” Kashan boldly said, “Search you deck for your Red-eyes and put it into your hand.”
I think he’s nuts or something to help me get the Red-eyes into my hand.
“Feeling happy that you got your Red-eyes so early?”
OK, he’s stupid, “Oh yeah, I’m going to bring you down.” Now I have another good card in my hand. With a card combination like this, Kashan will be busted. “He, He. Thanks.”
“Now for my next move!”
And then, he showed me why…

…I, had, been, busted. He beat me like hell for the first two rounds and won the game. At least I got rid of his super strong card in the second round. And after all that, I came in second place in the F2F Yugioh Home-Tournament and Shalinda came in third. That’s because Shalinda, Kashan and I were the only participants for this tournament, there were no other duelists and there are only about five or six on the entire island. But that’s probably the best thing, an unofficial tournament with no tough competition.
But anyway, a taste of that helps me in visualizing how Kashan is going to execute his crazy plan. He goes, he duels, he conquers all and wins their cards. Then Shalinda and me will get cards own from Kashan. Then I’ll have my own cards to play and practice with. And then soon after I’ll bust up Kashan and I’ll beat him. And I’ll win. And we’ll make a good team, Kashan, Shalinda and me.

Dark Sri Lankan Duels
Episode 03 : Rumors of Other Duelists

Well it’s another day at school and time for me to do what Kashan asked me. I like his idea to get some Yu-Gi-Oh cards, since I know it’s going to work. All I got to do is ask my friends at school, only those who have Yu-Gi-Oh cards, if they want to duel Kashan. And all they have to do is put up their cards as the prize, while Kashan puts one of his first edition cards. I know it’s not a good deal but Kashan explained why. Since my friends don’t care for Yu-Gi-Oh yet, there is no reason for them to own cards unlike him. It won’t be fair for them to giveaway the cards, and Kashan is no bully to take the cards away. So dueling my friends for all their Yu-Gi-Oh cards is the best offer. Also since it would take roughly forty duels to win all the cards owned by just one of my friends and that’s about forty hours too, so winning all the cards in one duel would be faster. Besides, I’ll get a single deck for just one win and a second for Alex. And there’s no way Kashan would ever be beaten, not after the move he pulled on me in the recent Home-Tournament.
So the only way I’m going to be as strong as him, or even stronger, is if I get my very own deck. And to do this I have to follow his plan, and find some duelist.

So back in school after failed attempts to find some duelists, I headed to my usual hangout spot. When I got over there my friend Shevon started to talk to me about Pokémon.
“Hey Shalinda, got any strong new Pokémon cards?” he asked me.
“I’m not into Pokémon, I’m into Yu-Gi-Oh.” I told him.
Then he calmly said, “I also know a bit about Yu-Gi-Oh”
Whoa, he knows about Yu-Gi-Oh, “Do you have any cards?” I asked in hopes he has some really strong cards.
“Yeah, I have a Yugi Deck and some other cards.”
This is so cool. If he has a Yugi deck, then I’ll be able to get a Dark Magician and some other strong cards.
“So what do you think about the Giant Soldier Of Stone? Pretty strong defense it’s got, huh? No monster could beat it in the early turns.”
“Nah, I’ve seen some stronger cards than that.” He said.
“What? There’s a better card than that?”
“Oh yeah, there are two cards that are better than that.”
This day is starting to become good. “What are they?”
“Well, one is called Labyrinth Wall and it’s got zero attack.”
“Huh?” I’m starting to think that he’s playing with me, “What kind of good card is that? Has it got an effect?”
“Nope, no effect. But it’s got three thousand in defense.”
“WHAT!” I shrieked.
“And it’s just level four. And there’s another card that’s got three thousand in defense. It’s called Millennium Shield.”
Wait a second, I’ve heard of that card before. I think Kashan told me about them once. Then I had this sudden idea that might put some fear into Shevon.
“You know, my friend who taught me to play Yu-Gi-Oh is called Kashan.”
“Is he any good?”
“He’s the strongest duelist in Sri Lanka and I’ve seen proof.”
“Really, tell me about it.”
“Well, there was this Home-Tournament that I was in recently and Yu-Gi-Oh was the main event. It was an unofficial tournament of course” and so the spare the boring details of my defeat to Alex, I went straight to how I almost lost all my life points to Kashan, but I lost anyway…

“…Now I’ll show you why this worthless card is my favorite card. I play the Magic card DARK DESIGNATOR! And I designate your Blue-eyes White Dragon!”
“What does that mean?” I asked him after he said that.
“It means you must search your deck for you Blue-eyes White Dragon and put it into your hand.”
I know he has something up his sleeve, but I can’t figure out what it is or why he’s helped me to get the strongest card in my deck to my hand.
“Feeling happy?” Kashan asked me.
“Yeah. But why give me the Blue-eyes White Dragon?”
“I’m not finished yet. Now for my next move! I play the magic card…”

…and that explained how Kashan uses his signature move to defeat an opponent.
“And that was the end of my monsters and some of my life points. Fortunately the time limit in the duels saved me from being totally wiped out.”
“Wow. Are you sure this guy didn’t cheat? He used that move twice on you and that seems like an impossible move.”
“Nah, he doesn’t cheat. He did that to prove that the Heart of the Cards is strong with him.”
“You believe in that nonsense?”
“Kashan believes in it and proved many times to me and Alex that is true. So I believe in it too. And that’s proof for me that he’s the strongest Yu-Gi-Oh duelist in Sri Lanka. Maybe he could be the most powerful duelist in the world”, and that’s when I realized that I’ve said too much. Now he knows basically everything about him.
“What ever. It’s just like that legend about Sri Lanka and Egypt both having some connection to Yu-Gi-Oh. Just a bunch of lies” Shevon said.
Then we stopped talking about Yu-Gi-Oh and I didn’t ask about trading some cards, yet. Before I headed out, I mentioned to him some of the cards I had got recently.
“Just show me the cards you have in the interval” He asked me.
“Sure” I replied.
So later on when I met him, I showed Shevon the cards and he was all jaw open about some of my cards, mainly ‘Lesser Fiend’. He was willing to trade 3 Pokémon of his, horrible ones, for only this one card. But I reject the offer and kept refusing, even though he begged me. There was no way I would be trading these cards.

The next day we met at the usual hangout spot in school. I was in a sleepy mood that day so any important stuff I wanted to talk about slipped out of my mind. I asked him about his cards, so that I might be able to strategize a way to defeat him myself. But instead he told me about how he duels with his friend. This means there’s another guy who plays, cool.
“So is this friend of yours good?” I asked him.
“You could say that”, then he had this look on his face like he had something up his sleeve, “When ever we duel, we each have a limit of three thousand life points instead of the usual eight thousand.”
This could mean he’s really good. I’ve never seen Kashan playing with lower life points, but it’s not likely that it would be an easier game against Kashan.
Then Shevon said “One of the cards my friend has is a magic called Swords of Revealing Light.”
I tried not to seem shocked by it, but I couldn’t keep my face from showing the shock on it. I’ve only seen it in the game Forbidden Memories, but I don’t know if the card works the same in real life.
“I guess you know what it does.”
“I think I do.”
Then he continued, “There’s also the monster called Gate Guardian.”
Whoa, this mean that this guy has got Suijin, Kazajin and the third monster that I don’t know the name of. This makes this guy really strong, and Kashan might just find him a great challenge. “Wow, so Kashan isn’t the only one who’s got Suijin.”
“Yeah, your friend isn’t the only strong duelist around. And sometimes when I’m not playing with my friend, he plays with someone else.”
“What? There’s another duelist?” wow, I thought that it would be hard to find other duelists, but Shevon probably found the whole lot, “Who is it?”
“My friend’s sister.”
That’s amazing, his friend has a sister who plays Yu-Gi-Oh too, “So he plays with his sister. She probably makes good practice for your friend.”
“Yeah, she’s a tough player. She even has her own rare and strong cards.”
“Her own cards? What has she got?”
He listed out the cards for me, “Black Skull Dragon and the Blue-eyes Ultimate Dragon are two of them”, these are better cards than Shevon’s friend has, “She even has Exodia the Forbidden One.”
“Wow, does she know how to use them all?”
“Of course she does. That’s why she’s tough.”
“I never thought that a girl could really be tough with all those cards.”
“Well she’s got a lot more. There’s the magic card Ragiki and the card your friend has, Buster Blader.”
“No way!” that seems impossible. Kashan told me that the monster Buster Blader is one of the rarest cards around that if anyone is lucky to get a hold of it then they become a strong duelist. Kashan owns one that he got by chance and says that in Sri Lanka there would be no other duelist who owns such a card. Guess he’s wrong.
“So your friend isn’t the only strong duelist around.” For some reason I don’t believe that Shevon was telling the truth, I know of no girl duelist on the island and one that has so many strong cards is most likely a lie.
“Yeah, I guess so. Boy, he’s going to be happy when he hears this”, then I remembered the plan of Kashan’s, “Hey, how would you and your friend and his sister like to duel Kashan sometime. He’s looking for some duelists to duel.”
“I’ll ask my friend and see.”
“He also would like to duel for all the cards you have”, that didn’t sound like a good thing to say.
“What! He wants all my cards? Is he nut’s or something?”
“No, he just wants to win cards for me and Alex.”
Shevon gave a small giggle, “If he’s dueling to get cards for you and your other friend, then you both must be weak at playing the game.”
“No we’re not. We don’t have any cards to own so we both can’t really go out and duel anyone.”
“Well, that’s a nice idea but there’s no way I’m going to duel and lose my cards to anyone.”
“Yeah, OK.”
And that was the end of the day. I headed home with some good news for Kashan, and if I know him, he’ll find a way to duel for those cards. Looks like this is going to be a very good year for me, because I know I’m going to be a good duelist when I get cards for a deck and I’m going to beat Kashan before the year is up.
